Innovation and Research

We don’t just practice, we innovate.

We live in an era of unprecedented technological change. At Embryorigin Fertility Centre we embrace the future. Our commitment to clinical research forms the cornerstone of our fertility practice, continuously striving to develop improved methods of assisted conception through international collaborations and research affiliations with leading Universities and clinics. Being at the forefront of innovation, means that the latest advancements and evidence-based practices are used for treatment.

Innovation

The implementation of artificial intelligence in reproductive medicine has proven effective for a variety of applications.
At Embryorigin Fertility Centre, we are the first clinic in Cyprus to introduce a range of innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence for embryo selection using KIDscore

The use of time-lapse system in our laboratory allows us to decision support tools that are developed by analysing the world’s largest database of embryo development with known clinical outcomes. The models are developed by analysing how embryos have grown in other laboratories and their pregnancy outcome. Based on this information, artificial intelligence can be used to predict with accuracy which of your embryos will have the highest chances for pregnancy.

We are proud to be the first clinic to implement this technology in Cyprus.

Embryo Ranking Intelligent Classification Algorithm (ERICA)

ERICA is a deep learning artificial intelligence software designed to assist embryologists and clinicians during the embryo selection process leading to embryo transfer, a critical step of IVF. This software relies on artificial vision to extract features not identifiable with the use of conventional microscopy. Following feature extraction, ERICA accurately ranks embryos according to their prognosis (defined as euploidy and implantation potential).

In this way, ERICA removes the subjectivity inherent to previously existing classifications and, by efficiently assisting clinicians, increases the chances of selecting the one embryo with the best chances to become a baby.

Computer software assisted sperm selection

The computer assisted program SiD, was designed to grade sperm, in real-time, based on motility parameters in order to select the best sperm to be used in ICSI cycles for our patient having treatment at Embryorigin Fertility Centre. This ability of carrying out real-time analyses of individual spermatozoa using an automatic tool such as SiD creates the opportunity to assist the embryologist in selecting the better spermatozoon for injection in an ICSI procedure. This technology has been shown to be associated with fertilisation and blastocyst formation. Through a collaboration with the International IVF initiative (I3) we are applying this technology with all our ICSI cycles.

Transforming Lives at Embryorigin Fertility Centre!

A technology that can help Embryologists select the best quality embryos,
without disturbing their culture conditions.
