Intra uterine insemination (IUI) is the least invasive form of fertility treatment. IUI involves directly placing specially washed sperm into a woman’s womb during the most fertile point in her menstrual cycle. Doctors utilise hormone blood tests and monitoring scans to track the cycle and determine the precise timing of ovulation. Subsequently, they introduce the sperm into the uterus through a straightforward, non-invasive procedure conducted in a theatre setting. IUI treatment can be administered during the natural menstrual cycle. Alternatively, if necessary, a woman's ovulation can be stimulated by administering an injection of human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) to induce egg release. Unlike in IVF, IUI does not involve egg collection, and the procedure is typically uncomplicated and painless.
